part-5 {school end}
We are all getting ready for the exam, but I noticed some changes happening between the boys and girls. They are getting very close, and they exchange mobile numbers. I don’t have a phone; I use my mom’s phone. I want Ramya’s number, but I don’t know how to ask for it. Ramya is a pretty girl in school, and all the boys in our section have fallen in love with her. Some boys even proposed to her, but no one knows Ramya’s point of view. I started gathering information about Ramya, but I thought it was totally a waste of time. There’s also a really handsome boy in our school, but my heart kept telling me about Ramya. Whenever I get a chance to see Ramya, there’s one thing I like: every day, she comes to school with loose hair, and she wears a rubber band on her wrist. I think she uses three colors, alternating between black, sandal, and white. She looks so beautiful with her loose hair, and within a few seconds, she transforms into a schoolgirl. I suddenly start watching this magic, but I still don’t know how to get Ramya’s number. I wonder how I can speak with her and spend more time with her. My dream keeps going on.
The exam starts tomorrow, and my mom told me, “Please get good marks. After you finish 12th grade, I’ll send you to a hostel college.” I also have some plans, but I really don’t understand what my mom is trying to tell me. It’s a hard time—only exams, exams, exams. I planned to speak with Ramya after all the exams are over, but she’s always busy with her friends, and I never have a chance to talk to her. Today is my last exam, and I feel like it’s the last day in the world. After the exam, I came out of the exam hall and started searching for Ramya. At the same time, she also came out of the class with some students. I took my bag, and as we both came down the steps at the same time, she asked, “Vinoth, how was your exam?” I just replied, “I did good. How about you?” Ramya smiled and said, “I did okay.” I just said, “Thank you.”
Ramya looked at me curiously and asked, “Why?” I said, “Nothing. I just wanted to thank you.” Then Ramya took a small piece of paper, wrote her mobile number on it, and gave it to me. I felt so happy. Ramya smiled and asked me to call her. Suddenly, her friends came up, and they started shouting, “Today is the last day of school life!” Some people got emotional. Ramya’s father arrived and asked every student to come to their house for a party. Ramya asked her father, “When will the party start?” Her father said, “At 6 PM.” Everyone was happy, and I really wanted to go. I rushed home but, in the end, I didn’t go there.
